American Pit Bull Terrier

This dog (above) is an American Pit Bull Terrier that is close to breed standard.

The dog's head is very wide, especially at the cheeks. The dog's head width is proportional to the width of the body.
The dog's muzzle is short, with the stop about 1/3 of the way between the tip of the nose and the top of the head. The dog's muzzle is proportional, with the stop about halfway between the tip of the nose and the top of the head.
The dog's jowls are loose, thick, and hang well below the chin. The dog's jowls are tight and level with the base of the chin.
The dog's chest is very wide and broad. The dog's chest is only slightly wider than its neck.
The dog's legs are short, thick, and bowed. The dog's legs are medium-length, straight, and proportional.
Because of the bulky muscles and exaggerated features, the dog looks lumpy, almost like an English Bulldog. Though the dog does not lack muscles, it has clean lines and looks well balanced.
The overall impression of the dog is of bulk and excess, and even sluggishness. The overall impression of the dog is agility and energy.
