Think all pit bulls are owned by thugs, gang members, and drug dealers? Think again.

It is my intent through this website to show the true pit bull as it should appear when it is loved and cared for by a responsible owner. Because a picture is worth a thousand words, these particular pages should speak loudly. I want to thank the owners who gave me permission to post their dog's picture on these pages.

As you look through these pages, notice how very different each dog looks from the others. This is one reason why breed-specific legislation just doesn't work - determining what is and is not a "pit bull" is very difficult and often subjective. There are a number of dogs in these photos that I'm not convinced are even part pit bull, but their photos are here, so someone thinks they are.

If you have a photo to share, please read the guidelines, then email me.

The dog shown in the photo above is my dog Felanie, age six, on the agility field. You can read her story here.

Guidelines for Submitting Photos

  • Due to space limitations, I can only post one photo per dog (exceptions made at my discretion), so keep that in mind when you email.
  • Please send a photo that shows the best side of the pit bull breed-type. Dogs loving or being loved on are far more interesting than a mug shot.
  • I will not post photos of dogs chained up in the yard, acting or posturing aggressively, or otherwise portraying inappropriate ownership or behavior.
  • When you email your photo, you MUST specify that you want it posted on the site. Please include your name, the name of the people in the photo, and the name of the dog(s) in the photo.
  • When you email your photo for posting on the page, you are giving me the right to touch up or alter the photo so that the image will be displayed as clearly as possible. I will also resize the photo as necessary, and eliminate glowing "flash" eyes at my discretion.
  • When you email your photo for posting on the page, I may use it in other areas of the site where I need some illustrations. If you do not want that to happen, please tell me so in your email.
  • The best format for submission is either a GIF or a JPG, attached to your email.
  • There is no guarantee that your photo will be posted! I am the ultimate decision maker in this respect.
  • Photos are updated very infrequently. :) If you don't see your photo up here after four or five months, send me an email.
