Adoption event benefits pit bulls

Posted by: Kate McGowanBUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Local animal rescue groups teamed up to help find homes for some four-legged friends.
The SPCA, Buffalo Animal Shelter, and Buffalo Humane were among the groups at Saturday’s “Bully For You” adoption event.
It offered anyone who adopted a pit bull, a number of products and services to help get them started.
Kara Lee said, “They’re not as maligned as many people make them out to be. They’ve very intelligent dogs, they’re loyal, they love people. It’s a very common misconception that these dogs turn on their owners, that they’re more vicious than other kinds of dogs. But really, these are dogs that thrive being around people.”
Organizers say national aggression and friendliness testing gave pit bulls a better temperament rating than golden retrievers and cocker spaniels.
