Sylvania Vet holds “Pittie Party”
ABC News
Sunday, January 10, 2010The event is an effort to dispel the idea that all pitbull type dogs are ferocious.
Pitbulls get a bad rap in the press and with some politicians, but one local vet is trying to change that.
Today, a “Pittie Party” was held in Sylvania in an attempt to help repair the image of Pit Bulls as ferocious dogs. The party comes after the dog warden faced criticism for high euthanization rates.
“Not every dog is bad, and not every dog is good. It’s an individual dog thing. It’s a responsibility thing for the people in the way they raise their animals, and there’s a responsibility that dog owners have to raise their dogs to be good canine citizens,” said Dr. Bob Esplin of Sylvania Veterinary Hospital, who helped organize today’s party.
The mayor, county commissioners, city council members, and members of the Lucas County dog warden’s advisory committee all attended the event.
